Celebrate Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka’s 170th birth anniversary with an exciting exhibition!
Organized jointly by the Museum of Fine Arts–Hungarian National Gallery and the Janus Pannonius Museum of Pécs, this exhibition showcases the brilliant painter’s most important works.
Opening on April 13th at the Museum of Fine Arts as part of the Bartók Spring International Art Weeks, it will run for three months. Later, it will travel to the Csontváry Museum in Pécs, where it can be viewed for three months starting in August. The exhibited material combines pieces from public collections and private collections. Notable works include Csontváry’s famous Self-portrait, The Lonely Cedar, Ruins of the Ancient Greek Theatre at Taormina, Valley of Great Tarpatak in the High Tatra, Pilgrimage to the Cedars in Lebanon, and Waterfall at Jajce. These remarkable paintings provide a comprehensive overview of Csontváry’s artistic themes and life. In addition, you’ll discover Csontváry’s early works, his studies in Munich, and his profound connection with nature.
